Science Kits

AKA Science offers a range of unique science topics, including: Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Forensic Science, Earth Science, Physics: Forces & Motion, Physics: Color & Light, Environmental Science, and Technology & Math (coming Winter 2026.)

Kit Design:

AKA Science kits are designed as 8 one-hour lessons. Each lesson contains 3-5 hands-on activities. The curriculum is designed to provide instructors with step-by-step, comprehensive instructions and all the background information necessary for successful facilitation - no previous science experience necessary! Supplies are packaged within each kit by class session and are bundled for easy access. Kit boxes include enough supplies to support a class of up to 15 students. An additional set of supplies is included so that the instructor has their own set (e.g. to demo activities, to test out before class, or to use as supplemental supplies if a student needs additional supplies.) Kits are available as grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8 options. Curriculum and activities are similar between the grade blocks; scaled, adjusted, and supplemented based on developmental readiness.

Kit Rotation:

Kit topics rotate on a 4-year cycle. Each year, AKA Science offers 2 of our 8 topics (e.g. Biology & Chemistry.) Kit One (e.g. Biology) is offered in the Winter term and Kit Two (e.g. Chemistry) is offered in the Spring term. Summer and Fall terms offer a mixture of both. Then the next year, we introduce two new topics (e.g. Engineering and Forensic Science) wherein Kit One (e.g. Engineering) is offered in the Winter, and so on. Rotating kit topics ensures students engage with new topics each year throughout their elementary and middle school experiences. Rotation also allows AKA Science to update each kit every year to ensure an optimal experience for the students, which may include new and exciting activities, current scientific discoveries, and improved materials.

Kit Resources:

The AKA Science website provides up to date resources for the current kit topics, including curriculum, surveys, worksheets, and more! Check back at the start of each term to download your kit resources.
